Poverty in Africa

EACH DAY...

30,000 children die of hunger and preventable diseases

6,000 people die of AIDS

17 million have already died

12 million African children have lost one or both parents

About one half of all people in the world infected with HIV or AIDS are in Africa

41% of the world's children cannot attend school

6000 children in developing countries die because of lack of clean water and sanitation.

In homes with [these services] children are 60% less likely to die

2% of the world's grain harvest would be enough, if shared, to erase the problem of hunger and malnutrition around the world!

Poverty means illiteracy, inadequate medical care, disease, and brain damage

Community Transformation
...beginning with the least

Africa Connect is an independent Christian mission working to support African nationals who have faithfully demonstrated a passion to help their own people by working within a community.
Our primary focus: orphans and vulnerable children
Our goal: the long-term transformation of the community they grow up in.

Africa Connect is dedicated to reaching, through support and partnership with existing indigenous projects, the vulnerable children of this world; to give them opportunity to be lovingly nurtured and equipped as tomorrow’s leaders. This is being done through education, feeding programs, health care, and community and structural development, all in the context of promoting local self-sufficiency.

Africa Connect’s primary focus is the Neema Care Centre, a free preschool which each year supports 100 orphans and vulnerable children living in the slum of Tuwani, outside Kitale, Kenya. Our goals, however, reach far beyond the school, into the families of the students and the community as a whole.

...and it's only the beginning!

“Our desire is that there may be equality. At the present time your plenty will supply what they need so that in turn their plenty will supply what you need.” 2 Cor. 8:13,14
